NFR edge past GCCC, in semis

GUWAHATI, Jan 16 – NF Railway Sports Association topped the group with four consecutive victories and est up semifinal clash with Tinsukia Railway in the Ramesh Baruah Trophy Cricket Tournament being organised at the Judges’ Field here by the Gauhati Town Club.

In today’s match the railwaymen edged past Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre (GCCC) by three wickets in a close match. Chasing a moderated winning target of 170, the NF Railway team reached total in the 34th over of the 35-over match losing seven wickets.

Man-of-the-Match Tarjinder Singh wrecked the GCCC innings with a five-wicket haul giving away 33 runs.

Nishanta Bordoloi was the highest run getter for the Coaching Centre with 62 while Chanakya Sarma and Sunil Ranjan Gogoi contributed 29 and 25 respectively. In reply Sarupam Purkayastha and Subhadip Ghose led Railway batting with 31 and 29 respectively.
